Theresa Chea, PharmD, BCPS - Sugar, how do you get so high?

As the pharmacist on the Glucose Management Team, I help formulate patient-specific therapeutic plans and monitor their safety and efficacy measures while inpatient. Upon discharge, I weigh the risks and benefits of various therapeutic options and develop a discharge regimen together with the team and patient's input. I also provide medication counseling for all new and resumed medications for diabetes. I have been a part of this team for over a year and have gained insight and expertise in this field. During my residency training, I also independently saw patients in an outpatient endocrinology clinic.

These presentations meet Maryland’s 2018 requirement for applicants registering for new or renewing CDS registration (Safe Prescribing of Opioids) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, and provide 6 CE hours of pharmacology for recertification.

Implicit Bias Training

Beginning April 1, 2022, when you apply for a Maryland health occupation license or complete your renewal application, you will be required to attest that you have completed an approved implicit bias training course. This applies to all “health care professionals” (physician, nurse, dentist, social worker, psychologist, pharmacist, health educator, or other allied health professional). You are NOT required to submit a certificate of completion for this training to your Board and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are NOT required, however MAAPC provides a certificate of completion if needed.
