CALL TO ACTION: AMA and affiliates chipping away at APN practice
Posted almost 6 years ago by Elaine Crain
Part of our job at MAAPC is to ensure that no one undoes the progress of Maryland APNs have made in advancing our profession and ensuring our full practice authority.
AMA and their affiliates are constantly chipping away at APN practice and this is the newest manifestation: https://www.texmed.org/TexasMedicineDetail.aspx?id=47558&utm_source=Informz&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=TMT
MAAPC has sent a strongly worded letter to the president of the NCSBN and encourages all our members and followers to show support for our system of interstate licensure compacts.
Below is a sample email. Please send a message to Katherine Thomas, FAAN President at info@ncsbn.org
Dear Ms. Thomas:
I urge NCSBN to consider the request from The Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association (AMA), and dozens of other state medical societies as a restraint of trade issue and not one of alignment of our professions.
As an APRN, I understand that I must practice under a state’s NPA and that working in multiple states does not my expand scope of practice.
Thank you for your stewardship of advance practice nursing.
Sincerely,
