We are thankful for your dedication and all you do to support our communities! Thank you!

The Wellness Network, a trusted provider of education and engagement tools and sponsor of Pearls of Practice,  is proud to partner with U.S. hospitals in the fight against the coronavirus by providing free education and anxiety reduction resources. This offer includes clinically reviewed coronavirus education and a hospital-branded website.  We are seeing requests from clinicians and marketing teams as it allows the teams to easily share these resources in the community as well for community outreach efforts.

Topics covered include:

  • Coronavirus prevention
  • Symptoms and treatment
  • Hospital safety
  • Mental health resources
  • Stress-relief and mindfulness

You can view what the site looks like here. Please complete this form if you are interested in gaining access to these free resources.

Additionally, our tablet technology is helping clinical teams as they face COVID-19. Featuring anti-microbial screens that reduce the risk of transmission and built-in features like an auto-shutdown to protect patient health information, these tablets help clinical teams engage and educate patients on coronavirus during this critical time.

We can configure and ship these tools within 72 hours! We are seeing interest from a variety of clinicians with special interest coming from infectious disease, ICU, Emergency Department directors, CNOs and CMOs. Please complete our Isolation Tablet Interest form  and we will reach out to provision and ship the tablets.

Here are some stories from nurses in a NY hospital who have used this tool:

  • ICU woman intubated last week – I skyped with the daughter using the tablet. She spoke to the intensivist while I was in the room and explained everything that was happening and gave her a poor prognosis.  The daughter was able to see her mom and connect the information to what she was seeing for herself.  I then gave the daughter all the time she needed to say what she needed to say to her and told her that I would be her hands.  I asked if she wanted me to hold her mom’s hand or stroke her head and forehead while she told her she loved her.  Her daughter appreciated that very much.  Later in the day, we did a second chat, this time with her brother on the line.  I did the same with him – stroked his mom’s head while he told her how much he loved her.  She died the very next day.  This family got to see her and tell her what they wanted to say before she left this earth and that was a priceless gift.
  • Another ICU patient, also intubated has done daily skypes with his wife and daughter.  Each time holding the tablet so they can see him and allowing the family to speak with the nurse and ask questions.  The wife of this patient, married for 50+ years also had audio clips of their grandchildren.  Each grandchild told their grandfather how much they loved him and that wanted him to get better.  The 5 year old granddaughter even told her grandpa that she had something special to tell him – that she learned to ride her bike in just 2 days.  That’s when there wasn’t a dry eye to be found.
  • Non ICU patient – gentleman in his late 80’s-90 – very depressed, giving up.  His daughter was called me worried about him.  We set up the video chat.  Although it was tough to see that he had declined since their last visit, they were able to have a virtual visit that cheered him up for the moment to see his families faces.  The daughter called me today to thank me for setting that up.
  • Another patient – had surgery – non-English speaking.  Daughter was able to chat with her mom and help her understand better what was going on and that she was safe.  Of course, translation phone had been used but I think she needed to hear from her daughter and see her.
