The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) has released results from the 2020 National NP Sample Survey. This survey collected important information regarding NP practice, including patient populations served, conditions treated and NP prescribing patterns. Results from the previous survey can be found on the AANP Research Reports webpage. If you have any questions, please contact AANP at research@aanp.org.
Report Now — Continue Reporting Negative or Inaccurate NP-related Media Activity
Thank you to all who have visited the Report Now page to keep AANP informed about negative or inaccurate content related to NPs that appears in traditional or social media. Below are recent items members reported and AANP evaluated for response in defense of the NP role.
- Anti-NP physician groups question NP education and outcomes as well as studies that reflect favorably on NP practice. New anti-NP physician groups, websites and social media accounts continue to form, and new publications continue to be released. Your support is needed to ensure AANP is aware of and can address these activities.
- Recent media coverage of NPs’ efforts to modernize practice includes misinformation from members of groups who oppose NP practice.
- Comments that NPs make online, including in closed social media groups and on other discussion threads, continue to be used by anti-NP entities to tarnish the NP and AANP brands, so urge your colleagues to use discretion when posting online.
AANP members are encouraged to read AANP’s responses and access talking points that match myths about NPs to corresponding facts. Please continue to use the Report Now form to make AANP aware of content that should be addressed.
