Nurse Practitioners – Certifications of Competency and Incapacity
Posted about 4 years ago
In 2020 MAAPC introduced a bill that added NPs to the list of providers who are eligible to perform Capability/Capacity Evaluations and Evaluations for a Certificate of Competency: Guardianship of a Disabled Person. The bill also allows NPs to assist in the determination of terminal or end stage disease, and in determination of a persistent vegetative state. It was signed into law in May 2020 by Governor Hogan.
Health Occupations – Nurse Practitioners – Certifications of Competency and Incapacity is the first bill of its kind in the US and complements the newly updated The Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report
