Dr. Arif Hussain is an academic oncologist with a primary focus on urologic cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, and germ cell cancers. He is a trialist, having conducted approximately 70 clinical trials in various genitourinary cancers that have ranged from phase 1 to phase 3 studies - these trials have included investigator-initiated, cooperative group and industry sponsored trials for patients with recurrent and/or advanced stages of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers. In addition, He has a research laboratory focused on molecular mechanisms involved in mediating resistance to anti-cancer therapies, particularly in prostate cancer. He has served as a doctoral (PhD) thesis adviser for two graduate students in the Dept of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, on the PhD thesis committee of nine other graduate students and served as Section Editor for Current Opinion in Oncology, GU Cancers since 2009.
