Mehrnaz Pajoumand, PharmD, is a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Manager at the University of Maryland Medical Center


Mehrnaz on Mehrnaz: I currently work as a clinical manager in critical care and emergency medicine. I also provide clinical coverage for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in the Neurotrauma ICU and the Lung Rescue Unit. I round with the critical care team in the Neurotrauma ICU at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where we medically manage patients with severe traumatic brain injuries and cervical spinal cord injuries. We also manage a lot of severe traumatic brain injury patients with paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity.

Implicit Bias Training

Beginning April 1, 2022, when you apply for a Maryland health occupation license or complete your renewal application, you will be required to attest that you have completed an approved implicit bias training course. This applies to all “health care professionals” (physician, nurse, dentist, social worker, psychologist, pharmacist, health educator, or other allied health professional). You are NOT required to submit a certificate of completion for this training to your Board and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are NOT required, however MAAPC provides a certificate of completion if needed.


CDS Requirement: Safe Prescribing of Opioids

Presentations meet Maryland’s 2018 requirement for applicants registering for new or renewing CDS registration (Safe Prescribing of Opioids) and provide 2 CE hours of pharmacology for recertification
