RE: The Maryland Board of Nursing is conducting a survey

Posted almost 3 years ago by Elaine Crain

Colleagues

I have several emails/calls/texts about the email the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) sent out on September 30.

The multi-state license has been adopted by Boards of Nursing across the country working within the NCSBN (National Council of State Boards of Nursing).  Each state must ‘agree to participate’ by passing legislation to join the Compact.

MAAPC is working to pass this legislation in 2023 for Maryland APRNs despite the objections of NPAM and AANP.

In addition to MAAPC, our efforts are supported by the Maryland Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Chesapeake Bay Affiliate of National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and the Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders, among many other nursing and non-nursing stakeholders.

The MBON is conducting the survey to find out if Maryland’s APRNs understand the Compact and if they support adopting the legislation necessary to offer us the choice of a compact license.

Seven states enacting the compact legislation are needed for the Compact to come into effect and be operational.

Make sense? If not, maybe we can set up a Zoom ‘town meeting’ to discuss! Let us know if these would be useful and MAAPC will schedule a few meetings.
