MAAPC is offering on-line presentations that meet the requirements for new and renewing licensure.

Implicit Bias Training

Beginning April 1, 2022, when you apply for a Maryland health occupation license or complete your renewal application, you will be required to attest that you have completed an approved implicit bias training course. CDS Requirement: Safe Prescribing of Opioids

Presentations meet Maryland’s 2018 requirement for applicants registering for new or renewing CDS registration (Safe Prescribing of Opioids) and provide 2 CE hours of pharmacology for recertification.

"be very aware of how you advertise and market yourself and your services. Make sure that it is completely clear what your degree is and what is the scope of your practice. Do not use the term doctor with regard to yourself in the context of your medical practice. "

I think it was just a matter of time before we hear about this. .....whether in California or elsewhere. Public is not always well educated on this.
Personally, I also think we did ourselves a disservice by not having min standardized entry requirements (experience) to be admitted to masters and DNP program. Educational backgrounds vary as we all know and very confusing..... just my thoughts

This is absurd. Physicians do not own the term “Doctor”. Psychologists use “doctor” as well as other disciplines with PHDs. I always say to patients “ My name is Dr. Osula I’m the nurse practitioner.

I agree with Dr. Osula in previous comment. If this NP (Ms. E) has to pay fines and be disciplined by the governing boards, then other disciplines using the title "doctor" should also be sanctioned, disciplined, and fined. Has the medical board sued psychologists, podiatrists, dentists. acupuncturists, chiropractors, osteopathics, physical therapists, pharmacist, PhDs, and "Dr. Jill Biden" for the same "offense?" The article also indicates that Dr. Jill Biden does not use the title in a medical setting! Well the other clinicians that I listed do use the title in a medical setting! I honestly believe that as long as the NP identified herself as a nurse practitioner and her ID badge also indicated her credentials, that should be sufficient. Finally, SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on the California Board of Nursing for NOT supporting their professional nurse with a doctorate degree and the profession of advanced nursing practice!!! I've corrected many patients when they have called me "Doctor" explaining that I am a nurse practitioner. One patient responded, "I know and I don't care. You take care of me, so you are MY DOCTOR." Absolutely ridiculous and shameful! All the more reason not to practice in states that limit the use of the "doctor" title. Doctor is an academic credential not an occupation. I am proud to be "Dr. Nurse!"
