Jill Burgholzer, DNP, CRNP-PMH, FNP - Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Care: Considerations for PCPs Treating Depression, Anxiety and Sleep Disturbances

Jill Burgholzer, DNP, PMH-NP, FNP started her nursing career as an LPN. She continued with her nursing education and after graduating from the University of Maryland’s master of science program and becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner she obtained her post master’s family nurse practitioner certificate at Wilmington University and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Delta State University. 

Jill’s clinical experience includes caring for children, adolescents, adults and veterans. Over the years she has worked in psychiatry in a variety of settings. She currently operates a mental health outpatient practice on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and has privileges at several area hospitals where she rounds on inpatient psychiatric units, works in emergency departments and performs consult liaison on medical floors. Teaching experience includes adjunct clinical faculty at Salisbury University where she participated in funded research, Towson University and Drexel University. She wrote a grant proposal and was awarded funding to provide professional instructors for a group exercise program and co-founded the adolescent running program at Adventist Behavioral Health’s adolescent Residential Treatment Center. She has published in a peer reviewed journal, authored a chapter in an APRN textbook which is currently under review and her DNP poster project was presented at an International Conference in New York City. Additional activities include being involved with nurse practitioner legislative issues, testifying in Annapolis and as a NCLEX question content expert panel member for the American Nurses Credentialling Center (ANCC). She is a current member of Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicians (MAAPC).

CDS Requirement: Safe Prescribing of Opioids & Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023

These presentations meet Maryland’s 2018 requirement for applicants registering for new or renewing CDS registration (Safe Prescribing of Opioids) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, and provide 6 CE hours of pharmacology for recertification.

Implicit Bias Training

Beginning April 1, 2022, when you apply for a Maryland health occupation license or complete your renewal application, you will be required to attest that you have completed an approved implicit bias training course. This applies to all “health care professionals” (physician, nurse, dentist, social worker, psychologist, pharmacist, health educator, or other allied health professional). You are NOT required to submit a certificate of completion for this training to your Board and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are NOT required, however MAAPC provides a certificate of completion if needed.
