"Breaking Down Biologics: A Tailored Approach to Modern Disease Management"

Dr. Katie Owens is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist dedicated to providing advanced pharmaceutical care for patients with neurological disorders in an outpatient setting. She collaborates closely with neurology providers to optimize medication management, ensuring the safe and effective use of treatments for conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and migraines. Her expertise includes conducting comprehensive medication therapy management and tailoring pharmacologic treatment plans to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Owens earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She further honed her expertise by completing both a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and a PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Ambulatory Care at Rhode Island Hospital. Now, in her role at the University of Maryland Medical Center, she continues to play a vital role in improving the quality of care for patients with complex neurological conditions through evidence-based medication strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration.


Dr. Millad Sobhanian is a board-certified Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Neurology, providing advanced pharmaceutical care in an academic outpatient neurology clinic. In his role at the University of Maryland Medical System, he collaborates with neurology providers across multiple subspecialties, including migraine, epilepsy, memory disorders, and multiple sclerosis (MS).
Dr. Sobhanian supports both patients and providers through medication counseling, therapeutic drug monitoring, and answering complex drug information inquiries. He also plays a key role in developing protocols and workflows for infusion-based neurology therapies, as well as managing infusion-related reactions to enhance patient safety and treatment efficacy.
His professional interests include leveraging patient-specific factors, biomarkers, and neuromodulation to predict therapeutic responses in neurologic illnesses. He is particularly passionate about the management of epilepsy in pregnant patients and optimizing the initiation processes for MS disease-modifying therapies. Through his expertise and dedication, Dr. Sobhanian strives to improve medication management and patient outcomes in neurology.
