  • Develop a patient-centered plan for managing chronic pain in primary care.
  • Discuss the evaluation and evidence-based management of acute and subacute painful conditions.
  • Identify strategies to mitigate risk when prescribing opioids.

Each activity is approved for 1.0 contact hour(s) of continuing education by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners®.

 

This program meets Maryland’s 2018 requirement for applicants registering for new or renewing CDS registration (Safe Prescribing of Opioids) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 requirement of an eight-hour training requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

 

Since 2005, MAAPC has been a strong advocate for Advanced Practice Clinicians in the Maryland State Legislature, consistently working to enhance and protect the scope of practice for APRNs while supporting our PA colleagues.
