Sponsors for The Nurse Practitioner Full Practice Authority Act of 2015

Posted about 9 years ago by Elaine Crain

Great news!

Delegate Bonnie Cullison, a Democrat representing District 19, Montgomery County, (Web Page) and Senator Joan Carter Conway, a Democrat, District 43, Baltimore City (Web Page), have agreed to be sponsors of our bill.

For a bill to proceed to the bill writers (those that will take our draft, compose it into legal form, name it and assign bill numbers), we had to court sponsors for the bill and are thrilled to have such strong women and politicians spearheading our efforts.

The bill has been reviewed and processed by the bill writers and we now are proud to announce SB 723: NURSE PRACTITIONER FULL PRACTICE AUTHORITY ACT OF 2015 Repealing a prohibition against a certified nurse practitioner practicing in the State unless the nurse practitioner has an approved attestation that the nurse practitioner has an agreement for collaboration and consulting with a specified physician and will practice in accordance with specified standards; requiring a nurse practitioner to practice in accordance with specified standards; repealing a requirement that the State Board of Nursing maintain a specified attestation; etc. EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2015 HO, § 8-302(b) - amended Assigned to: Senate Rules

Please visit our legislative website APRNPractice.org and review the information we have assembled.

If you become a follower of the site, you will receive almost instantaneous updates as we proceed through the next few months.

I will continue to send emails but that information will arrive more slowly. T

here are links on the website to join and donate to our legislative efforts though both MAAPC and NPAM – look under 'Resources' and 'Call to Action.'
