2/13/10: To All - thank you for your overwhelming letter campaign! It has done the trick…however the legislators have asked for you to hold your letters for a week or 2 as they are overwhelmed and need time to answer those received.

So, if you would, take all that energy and get any and all physicians you know to sign a letter of support. We have just under a hundred but need 3000 to really impress those who think Med Chi knows best. You may have seen the latest release from Med Chi on the net. Please, please don’t get angry, frustrated or over-react! We will answer this latest statement with a calm, professional, educated answer through the appropriate channels. It may be a snowy weekend but our legislative geniuses, Lorraine and Susan, are skating ahead with an appropriate response!

There are about 5000 Med Chi members, I wonder what would happen if the NPs in Maryland had more than 5000 signatures of support from physicians?

Show me, Elaine Crain

Updated letter for supportive physicians to sign, on letterhead is better!

To Whom It May Concern:

I write this letter to voice support for House Bill 319 / Senate Bill 484 which eliminates the collaborative agreement for Nurse Practitioners.

The time for discussion and debate about this topic is over. Nurse Practitioners are well-educated, important members of our healthcare teams and we need to give them the tools they need to work effectively for our patients.

I support the elimination of the Collaborative Agreement as it relates to Nurse Practitioner’s practice in the State of Maryland, and I encourage you to do the same.

Sincerely,
