Shana Metzger’s presentation, Opioid Prescribing in the Wake of an Epidemic: The Pharmacologic Management of Pain, withdrawal and addiction, has been recognized the Board of Nursing and meets the 2018 requirements of HB 1452/SB 1223 Controlled Dangerous Substances Registration – Authorized Providers – Continuing Education.

This bill requires providers who register to prescribe or dispense controlled dangerous substances (CDS) to attest that they have completed two hours of continuing education.

This is a one-time requirement that applies to providers when they initially apply for CDS registration or their next renewal after October 1, 2018.

Continuing education must be related to CDS prescribing or dispensing and recognized by the provider’s health occupation licensing board.
